All IBOs age 65 or older enrolled in Medicare Part A & B: Open enrollment for group retiree health and Part D Prescription Drug coverage is October 15 – December 31, 2022. Coverage is guaranteed acceptance regardless of pre-existing health conditions. If you enroll by December 31, 2022 your coverage will be effective January 1, 2023. If you enroll after December 31, you may qualify for coverage by answering a few health questions.
You are eligible to enroll if you are:
- An active IBO with the Independent Business Owners Benefits Association (IBOBA) at time of enrollment.
- Age 65 or older and enrolled for Medicare Part A and Part B. You must be enrolled in
both Medicare Part A and Part B.
- A U.S citizen living in the United States and hold a social security number.
- The spouse of an active IBO (with IBOBA), age 65 or older who is enrolled in Medicare
Part A and Part B and a U.S. citizen living in the United States who holds a social security number. Your spouse (if enrolling for coverage) must also be enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Part B.
If you are currently covered by another Retiree Health plan or an individual Medicare supplement plan and enroll under the group United American plan for IBOs, this plan will replace your existing Retiree Health plan or individual Medicare supplement plan.
Providing you enroll during open enrollment, your Medicare Supplement coverage will become effective January 1, 2023 and you will not have to answer medical questions and may simply complete the enrollment form posted on this website; your coverage is guaranteed to be issued.
If you apply for coverage outside of open enrollment, you will be required to answer a few medical questions and should contact the Group Medicare Supplement Call Center at 1-800-732-3412 for a medically underwritten application.
